Re: Sealing Graphite Chassis
To do it yourself use the following method (there are others):
With a Dremell with the large drum bit fitted for long edges sand at a 45 degree angle along both sharpe edges a file can be used for smaller hard to reach places once this is all done you are ready to seal with glue Zap glue seems to be the best from Ripmax and most good model shops, the runy one. REMEMBER to use a face mask when sanding or filing carbon fibre and wash your hands and the chassis after all filing is done or you could wear latex gloves.
Gluing is fairly easy with a cotton bud but you will get fumes from the glue when you put it on the cotton bud but this will stop after use when the cotton becomes hard.
When applying the glue do it from the underneath, if you do it on the top edge there is a good chance the glue will run over the suface of the chassis.
Also file the edges of the chassis slots if using normal cells or the tape slots if using them to secure your Lipos, if you dont round them off properly you WILL rip the tape in a collision. I would also glue these after prep aswell.
All of the above does take some time but has to be done and makes a life a lot easyier with less delamination and no tape ripping, this makes your racing more reliable.
To put a price on doing this is hard because it takes 1-2 hours to do propely and is a messy job.
