[newbie] question about club racing

Post by cytomatrix on Sat Feb 21, 2009 11:06 pm

Hi,

I am new to this forum and new to rc racing. I have never raced before. And I would like to race at your club. I have been reading some of posts on this forum. And I got a few questions about racing with you guys.

I got a tamiya tt01e XB Nissan fairlady (http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/item.php?product-id=57775). Its a ready to run version, so i didn't build it. And i haven't modified in any way. So i was wondering whether it is possible to race with this car at your club. I know you guys use 27t motor. I am not really sure whether tamiya stock 540 motor is 27t or not. At the moment I got 1900mah NiMH battery. Should i get a better one or can i try with this one first? Another question is do you mind if come along and watch you guys race for a couple weeks before I start racing. Like i said i haven't been to any clubs before. So i am not sure how racing clubs work.

I really appreciate your help. I live in hackney. Thanks in advance for answering my questions.

Roy

Hi Roy
Welcome to the Forum&Club
Our Clubs door open to All Level of Drivers...
So If I were you I can come around on Tuesday And enjoy my first time ever Race meeting...
Please remember we have all level of Drivers and basicly you gonna race with the drivers that has similar ability with you...
tamiya stock 540 is not really competative Motor but still equvalent of 27T...
Do not buy any equipment at this point, come with what ever you've got Wink
I hope that helps
Please do not hesitate to ask any question...
Cheers
Ali

Cool. I know tamiya tt01s are not really race cars. But I will upgrade to a better car when I get better at racing. I will come there this tuesday to say hello and see how you guys race. I also need to find out how long it takes to get there from hackney. What cars do you guys race in? xray? Anyone racing in tt01s there? Laughing Cheers. Thanks for answering my question. Take care.

Some do race tamiyas and do well with them, we will also be having 2 drivers racing tamiya minis this week so if you want to race this week ( 1st race is free ) you are more than welcome to and will go in with the minis and we can give you any help you need, driving from Hacney would proberly take 30 mins or so depending on traffic.

Hope to see you soon Mark. Very Happy

infact. because i prefer tamiya TT-01's i am rebuilding mine with upgrades/hopups and going to be racing that again.. i do have corally RDX 4 sale if your interesting in upgrading. i am seling it because i cant afford to keep it as i have no income because i am still at school. plus tamiya parts are much much cheaper for me. i was asking 80pound 4 it but now all i want is 60..

John ask Richard Goddard who races at our club if he's interested in you RDX. He has one and I'm sure he would be have yours for spares etc.
