G.M.C.C. RE-OPENING PROGRESS.

Post by MR G.M.C.C. on Wed Dec 12, 2007 11:45 pm

G.M.C.C. have spoken to Goresbrook Leisure Centre who have confirmed that the resurfacing of the hall floor is on target for being ready for us to Re-open on Wednesday 23-01-08.

I know due the closure of the Robert Clack Venue this will come as great news to those who used to race there and have no where to race at the moment.

If you have not been to G.M.C.C. before and would like to come and join us when we re-open you will be more than welcome.

We open at 6.30pm every Wednesday, racing normally finishes at approx. 10.15pm as we have to be out of the hall by approx 10.30pm so a hand putting your track away would be most appreciated.

Our lap counting system is a bit different from others in that it is manual count but you are informed by the computer at 1 minute intervals of the race order and finishing times etc. Please dont let the thought of manual count put you off as all times are checked and corrected if needed after each race, so laps will not be missed.

We dont have to many rules at our club but they are the same as most other clubs e.g. No swearing or bad behaviour, tidy your rubbish up, 12 volts in spill proof containers and one of the most important rules Marshalling, if you dont Marshall after your race you will recieve free of charge a 10 second penalty off of your best qualifiying time, you have been warned, no excuses.

We hope to build our club over the coming year so we can purchase an AMB lap counting system and hopefully if we get more drivers on a regular basis we will run a larger track. At the moment our track size is 18m x 12m, but we will be looking to extend this to 22m x 12m if we can increase our regular members.

We are also looking into running either an Inter-Club Indoor Series or a Indoor Summer Series which will be held on a Sunday, neither will clash with the BRCA Nats, BTCC or STCC as many local drivers compete in these Championships, hopefully the track will be even bigger depnding on numbers. This is all in the planning stage and nothing is confirmed as of yet so watch this space early next year for more news.

As I'm sure you are all looking forward to getting back to G.M.C.C. as are all of the Committe. G.M.C.C. wish you all a Merry Christmas and hope to see you all trackside in the Happy New Year.
