what soldering iron for speedo,s and motors??

hi guys can anyone link me to what your using and happy with, i have a poor draper mains one that isnt doing a job the tip doesnt last very long and its very akward to use.think i want a 12v one aswell

I think Rich has one close to that is pretty good heats up quick enough Smile .. i use a weller mains soldering iron/station... very good but its not 12V lol

S.P.E.C RACING do a really good iron 12v and good enough to do cells

the head is about 5mm i think isnt that big really

and spec are always at west london race track and im pretty sure they have a website ill see if i can find it

The Slipstream iron is the one that i use! for cells, motors, speedos, etc...
Although if you leave it on, it can melt the casing!lol But never the less, heats up quickly and gets very hot! Heads can be easily changed!
Under £20, good price! ...why not!

Just remember to turn it off after use, as i forgot to once, went and raced, then came back and it was a bit limp!lmao (Still usable mine you!lol ;-) )

The ones that SPEC do are good but not as good as the original WASP Racing ones which there new ones are a copy of, the wasp ones do come up on ebay now and again but if you can get your hands on one they are well worth the money, they are the best 12v soldering iron ever made and you can use the trick bits tips which they have several sizes of.

As for 240v ones 50 watts plus the more watts the better.

your right ali i dont actually know why i wanted a 12v one Surprised lol once all the electrics are in that should be me done. i may get the slipstream one for back up trackside and the weller for indoors

12v ones are good when there is no power available.
