Welcome to the 2009 IIC!

Well it is hard to believe that we are arriving at our 5 year
anniversary of what started out as only a dream. My dream was to bring
all the best drivers in the world to the most exciting city in the US
for the biggest and best on road race on the planet. We have succeeded
through these 5 years working hard to offer you the racer the best
experience possible of your choices of major events and this years IIC
will continue to set the standard that all other races are measured
against.

The 2009 IIC Presented by Jaco/SMC will again be held right in
the heart of Las Vegas on the world famous STRIP! Moving back to the
strip last year brought back the feeling of the first IIC that we held
back at the Stardust and brought back the excitement and intimacy that
makes the IIC so unique and exciting. The venue for the IIC uses over
20,000 square feet of space and allows everyone to be right next to the
track where all the action is. Not only did last years move back to the
strip bring back the first year feeling, it allowed us to try some new
things in the schedule and planning of the event and many of those
things that we tried and were a complete success will be back this
year.

We surveyed many of the racers that attended the 2008 IIC and
asked for some sincere input about all the aspects of the event. Out of
all the things we received feed back on, the single thing that almost
everyone loved and commented on was the running of the mains on
Saturday! I can't tell you how many racers expressed that they loved
this and this allowed them to have a relaxed day of travel home on
Sunday and not have to take another day off of work Monday. This also
ties into the reason we choose to have the race after the Labor Day
holiday. With the event running Sept 7-12th 2009 and Monday the 7th
being Labor Day, to attend this event, you will only need to take 4
days off of work which will work out great for all of us. Another thing
that was a common theme during our survey was more practice time.
Everyone prefaced their comment by understanding that we have so many
racers to get on the track that they understand why we run practice by
heats. Well discussing this with my team during the winter, we have a
plan to try and increase the track time a racer can get for practice.
On Tuesday, we will run practice by class or groups of classes. Each
class will have a designated practice time and we will run timed runs
to move drivers on and off the track and get as many guys on the track
as possible. Now this is only for Tuesday. On Wednesday, we will go
back to practice via heats, this will allow us to get everyone accustom
to the flow of tech inspection, flow on and off the drivers stand and
allow us to do another thing that will be unique to this years IIC. We
will be seeding the heats for qualifying off of practice times from
Wednesday's practice runs. Now before everyone has a heart attack. Here
is how it will work. We use RCScoring Pro as the official Scoring
Software for the IIC. We will be using a drivers 3 best consecutive
laps during either one of their practice runs. The driver's best 3 laps
will then be used for a resort to group the same ability drivers
together. Remember this is only to balance out the heats and attempt to
put similar skilled drivers together. Using this 3 lap format will not
put any undue pressure on the results of your practice but rather make
the qualifying for the event better.

Here is what your registration fee gets you at the IIC:

  • Upon Check in, the great IIC Goodie Bag. Which consist of many great items from our sponsors totaling close to $100 in goodies.
  • Discount coupons at the Rivera for shows and souvenirs
  • Great event T shirt designed by Dusty Kemp.
  • Professional ID Badge commemorating the 2009 IIC.
  • Tuesday
Drivers Meeting Buffet Dinner in the Ballroom at the top of the
Riviera. This was a tremendous hit last year giving everyone a chance
to relax, socialize away from the track and fill your gut with all the
    great food you can eat.
  • Wednesday
night Sponsor Meet and Greet with more free food and Free BEER, YES
FREE BEER! For those of legal drinking age of course.
  • A race venue that is second to none in the world of RC Racing located right on the Strip.
  • Tech inspection managed by Jamie Tennies who is one of the most experienced and well respected guys in the business.
  • The
Staff at the IIC will bring you the best, most on time race program you
have ever attended. Each day when you arrive at your pit, there will be
a time table listing exactly what time your race will be on the track.
If it says your in race 22 and it will start at 208pm. You can be
assured it will start at that time. This allows you the racers the
chance to plan your day so you don't have to stay at the track the
whole day, you can go out and win lots of money in the casino if your
lucky or explore all the Las Vegas has to offer. So as you can see,
your entry feel includes so much more that just the right to race in
the event. You get great gifts, great food and the best event possible.
And when you compare this to what other events charge, you can see that
the IIC is a great deal.

We invite you to ask around and talk to racers that have attended the IIC and you will see why racers return year after year.

If you have any questions at all, please let us know and we will be happy to answer them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the IIC and let's make it a September to Remember.

Thanks, Scotty and the IIC Team
