BTCC ROUND 1 STAFFORD
Sothe First round of the new season takes us to the Stafford track, quite
a few drivers turned up on the Saturday for a day of practice, the
weather was lovely and therefore many drivers was taking to the track
and putting their cars through their paces, many cars looked very good
in practice, and we thought we were in for a brilliant days racing on
the Sunday..................this
was until we arrived Sunday morning and was greeted by a wet track and
rain in the air, not many drivers went out for practice, just a few,
due to the good old British weather conditions!!
So
on to drivers briefing, race director John Robson, Schumacher
representatives Tim Walden and Mark Musgrove go onto the drivers
rostrum and gather everybody on the race track for the briefing.
Everybody was explained the order of the day, and round by round
qualifying was chosen due to the ever changing weather conditions, the
format of 3 qualifying runs and 2 finals was again the chosen option
for this seasons racing. The classes for this year are 5 Cell Modified,
19t/10.5 Brushless, 27t Brushed, 13.5 Brushless and there was a total
of 90 entries for this event.
So onto the
finals we went, and that voice that everybody knows the one and only Mr
Kris Kennedy made his way into race control and onto the microphone, so
of course the atmosphere started to build and the crowds gathered at
the track to watch what turned out to be some very good close racing in
many finals.
The Schumacher Mi3 won in each class so
proving that once again because of all the different set up options
that are available with this chassis you can set it up to work in any
weather conditions.
After
all the racing was completed all the drivers and partners etc gathered
around for the trophy presentation, which the top 3 from each final
received a trophy and also FTQ for each class, then we moved on to the
random Schumacher raffle prize draw. The way this works is that
Schumacher donate over £300 worth of prizes for each BTCC event, these
include 2ch and 4 Channel radio control Helicopters, Lipo batteries,
Chargers, set up gauges etc. Then a final is chosen at complete random
and a number between 1 and 10 is then drawn out of a hat, so whichever
driver that corresponds to wins a prize, so as you can imagine lots of
happy faces around after they have won a nice prize!!!
Thanks
to the Stafford Organisers for looking after us all weekend and running
a good event, another enjoyable meeting. The BTCC now moves onto the
new track on the calendar for this year at Yateley for round 2 which
will take place on Sunday 4th May. So if you have not already booked in please do so ASAP using the Central booking website: http://www.centralbooking.org/ where you can also see the results for this meeting.
