WHAT DO YOU NOW NEED FOR A NATIONAL RACE.
I would like to apologise in advance for this rant but I am raving mad at the NRCA.
1. Most important, Money.
2. Brushless motor and speedo = £210.00
3. Lipo pack £100
4. Lipo charger £125
5. Lipo balancer £30 approx.
Total: £465.00+ I'm sure there's something I have missed.
So a big YES to all the nutters on all the other forums, the Nrca Nationals are for the cream of the crop "top" drivers as they are mostly all sponsered so don't have to pay for the above equipment or get it at a discount and probably already have most of the above equipment. This does not mean they are the best drivers, they just have access to the best equipment and more of it as it is cheaper.
But for most of us (I know I get it cheaper) who have to pay for our stuff will not already have the wright equipment (Lipo chargers for one) so will now have to pay an arm and a leg to race at a National.
What happened to Regionals that everyone has been banging on about over the past few months, nothing! Surley this would have been an ideal place for the mere mortal 27t and 19t drivers to compete until they decided to move up to the Nats or qualify for them when they were good enough to be classed as a "top" driver.
So now if you race 27 stock at club level get used to it as you wont be doing a National meeting unless you rob a bank or do 10 paper rounds a week.
I really hope the BTCC and the STCC dont go down the route of the NRCA as this would stop even more drivers competing. R.I.P. Nationals.

Re: WHAT DO YOU NOW NEED FOR A NATIONAL RACE.
NO YOU DONT!
if you want you can still race at a national with your existing equipment.the brca are trying to get brushed/brushless systems at equal performances.but as with brushed no 2 systems are exactly matched.thats why all the forums are full of "which"motor, esc, batteries, brushes, tyres ............ are the best/fastest/lightest.......
we all know the real difference is in the thumbs
you cant keep everyone happy
but Mark(MR A-MAN),keep me happy

Re: WHAT DO YOU NOW NEED FOR A NATIONAL RACE.
No you dont what?
We all know that if there is a choice between 19t and 10.5 brushless the brushless is probably going to be quicker one way or another so this looks to me as though this is there subtel way of getting rid of the only remaining brushed motor. We will see.

Re: WHAT DO YOU NOW NEED FOR A NATIONAL RACE.
Matt the point is you dont have to buy all that stuff at your level even the jump up from 27t to 19t with the same cells may be too much. It was for Billy thats why he went back into stock. Its not all about money you could still race not everyone is gonna buy li- po and brushless so you wouldnt be alone this rule is to give people the opitunity to try new things not to take over the sport and get rid of the young racer.

Re: WHAT DO YOU NOW NEED FOR A NATIONAL RACE.
The change had to come at some point, technology is always improving, brushless and lipos are just to dear at the moment but if the price comes down more people would go in for it. But looking at the statement BRCA have relised i can see the nationals going belly up everyone knows the 27t has the most drivers

Re: WHAT DO YOU NOW NEED FOR A NATIONAL RACE.
Couldnt agree more, why scrap the biggest and most popular class? Madness. Perhaps there should be 1 Natoinal Champion in the most popular 27stock class mod is not the most raced class.

The BRCA need to re-evaluate the 27T otherwise i can see these nationals being boycotted

Re: WHAT DO YOU NOW NEED FOR A NATIONAL RACE.
They cant do anything now till the 2009 season because these rules have been passed but i can see what your saying about a feeder class i.e 27t. There are more compations about than just the nationals for people to start out and once they have progressed most wont wanna run 27t because its just too slow outdoors. I can see this arguement from both sides but dont understand or see the plus points of running the nationals over four 2 day meets thats just too much especially the travel costs and cost of staying 2 nites in a hotel because at least 3 out of 4 events are proberbly gonna be up north. I can see me doing the BTCC in 2008 as the mod class has not changed and i will be running mod from now on. With the BTCC i can pick and choose which race meets to go to. Thats my 2p and doesnt have to be everyones opinion. Thats why a forum is great to get everyones views out there.

Re: WHAT DO YOU NOW NEED FOR A NATIONAL RACE.
I would have to disagree with you scott about the 27t being too slow at the last ko meeting at WRLC some of the 27t boys were doing more laps than the 19t also at Wodson a few weeks ago there was Brian Eldridge with a 4.5 brushless = 30 laps Mark Young 19t = 30 laps and paul pinkky 27t = 30 laps so how is 27t slow? by looking at these results it clearly comes down to your fingers and thumbs and driving skills

Re: WHAT DO YOU NOW NEED FOR A NATIONAL RACE.
The track at woodson is too small to show the difference between the different motor classes for most drivers as it is too tight but outdoors which is what i was refering to, all season at various clubs and championships that i have been to, the mod and 19t have blown the stock boys away apart from maybe the top 5 drivers or so sponsered to drive in 27t who get the best 27t motors sorted out for them from manufacturers and also use in most cases new brushes every run and motor zappers. Even you changed from 27t to 19t at CMCC this summer because 27t just couldnt keep up with the quicker 19t motors most people were running, so in fact you prove my point about 27t not being quick enough. As i said i was talking about outdoors not indoors but if you want to see my point on an indoors track take a look at carpet wars which compares to some of the smaller outdoor tracks like CMCC

Re: WHAT DO YOU NOW NEED FOR A NATIONAL RACE.
its always gonna be about the size of track.same as its always gonna be about cost.and for the majority of people who race indoors most of the time they make do with 27t for the outdoor season.its competition with similar equipment even though it may be more obviously slower than 19t and mod.and you already have an understanding of how your equipment behaves.no" back to school" with motors and driving etc.
im not in it to win it,im in it to have fun
oh! and beat matt of course.
well, for as long as i can anyways.
